Lucas is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO. Lucas earned his Bachelor’s in Psychology from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO. Lucas has lived in Kansas City since 2014 with his wife of 10 years and their young son. He is a huge sports fan and is very much enjoying the Chiefs dominant run! Lucas also is a huge movie and music buff. Lucas completed his graduate counseling practicum at a non-profit Men’s Rehabilitation Center working with men of all backgrounds overcoming substance addiction. Since graduating, he has worked in Community Mental Health and private practice settings gaining valuable experience working with people from many different demographics of gender, race, and age. As can be seen by his education background, Lucas has a rich history in the Protestant church, but he welcomes conversations that involve spirituality of all types - or not. He recognizes that this is a deeply personal journey for each of us and wants therapy to be a safe space for all. Although Lucas specializes in work with adult males struggling with relationships, life goals, self confidence and other men’s issues, he also enjoys working with clients of all backgrounds and genders. He has experience working with clients dealing with ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, OCD, Bi-Polar Disorder, Social anxiety, Addiction & substance use, work/life balance, relationship issues, and even recovery from spiritual or religious abuse. “I believe a counselor’s job is to be an advocate for their client. The client is the pilot and the counselor is the co-pilot. We will work together on establishing a therapeutic relationship, overcoming past, present and future obstacles while accomplishing collaborative goals.
